from 300 €
Fullness and a beautiful shape for the lips in a natural-looking way.
01What it is
What are lip fillers?
Lip fillers are a non-surgical aesthetic procedure in which a soft, hyaluronic-acid-based gel is delivered into the lips. Hyaluronic acid is a substance native to the body, occurring naturally in the skin, joints and connective tissue, which is exactly why it is well tolerated and blends into the tissue naturally.
The treatment can add fullness to the lips, emphasise the lip border, balance asymmetry or restore volume lost with ageing. The goal is never an exaggerated end result but lips that suit your facial proportions and look like your own.
02Background
Where do hyaluronic acid fillers come from?
The importance of hyaluronic acid for the skin's moisture and elasticity was recognised in research as early as the mid-20th century. Long-lasting gels suitable for aesthetic use, however, only became common around the turn of the 1990s and 2000s.
They replaced the previously used animal-derived collagen fillers, which required allergy tests and lasted less well. Hyaluronic acid proved to be a safer and more predictable option, and it quickly became the most used type of filler in the world.
03The science
How the filler works on the lips
Today's fillers are made from cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Cross-linking means that the hyaluronic acid molecules are bound to each other, so the gel stays in the tissue longer and its firmness can be tailored, for the lips a soft gel is used that moves naturally with the lip.
Hyaluronic acid binds a remarkable amount of water, even many tens of times its own weight. Delivered into the lip, it provides both volume and moisture, which makes the end result feel soft.
The gel gradually dissolves in the body, which is why the result is not permanent. This is also a safety factor: if needed, the hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase if the end result needs to be changed.
04Suitability
Who is the treatment for?
The treatment suits most adults who want fuller, more moisturised or more symmetrical lips. Suitability is always assessed before treatment, and for example pregnancy, breastfeeding, inflammation in the area to be treated or certain illnesses may be a contraindication.
At the consultation we go through your wishes, the lips' natural proportions and a realistic end result. A good lip filler takes the balance of the whole face into account, not just the lip in isolation.
05Results
Results and duration
The result is visible right after the treatment, but the final shape settles within about a couple of weeks, once any swelling has gone down. The lips then feel soft and natural.
The result typically lasts from half a year to a year depending on the person, metabolism and the product used. The treatment can be repeated when the effect begins to fade, and many maintain the result at regular intervals.
Safety
Safety & good to know
The hyaluronic acid filler corresponds to a substance native to the body and is well tolerated. Mild swelling, tenderness or a small bruise for a few days is normal.
If needed, the hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase, which adds to the treatment's safety. Pregnancy, breastfeeding or inflammation in the area may be a contraindication.
Combine
Combine with other treatments
Lip fillers fit well as part of an overall facial plan. Biorevitalisation or skin fillers, for example, can balance the overall look of the face.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How long do results last?
Typically 6–12 months, after which the treatment can be repeated.
Does the lip filler hurt?
A numbing agent is used on the area, so the treatment is well tolerated.
Do the lips look natural?
Yes, when the treatment is done moderately and with the facial proportions in mind. The goal is balanced lips that look like your own.
Can the filler be removed if I don't like the result?
The hyaluronic acid filler can, if needed, be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase, so the result is not irreversible.
