Focused ultrasound lifts and firms the skin without surgery.
01What it is
What is a HIFU facelift?
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is a non-surgical facelift in which focused ultrasound energy is delivered into the deep layers of the skin without breaking the skin's surface. The treatment firms and lifts the skin especially in the jawline, cheek, brow and neck areas.
HIFU is known as an alternative to a light surgical lift when the skin's sagging is mild or moderate and recovery time is not wanted. It is popular precisely because the result develops naturally and you can return to everyday life immediately.
02Background
Where does the method come from?
Focused ultrasound has been used in medicine for decades, because ultrasound energy can be focused at exactly the desired depth in tissue without breaking the skin. Precision was the decisive insight that made it possible to direct the energy safely deep down.
HIFU was brought into aesthetic use when it was found that the same precision allows the energy to be directed at exactly the supportive layer of the skin (the SMAS level) that is tightened in a surgical facelift. This way the skin's own supportive structure could be strengthened without surgery.
03The science
Why HIFU firms the skin
The device focuses the ultrasound energy point by point into the subcutaneous layers, where controlled heat points are created. The heat makes the collagen fibres contract immediately, which gives a slight tightening effect straight away.
The main effect, however, is delayed: the heat points trigger the body's own repair response, which accelerates the production of new collagen and elastin over weeks. This gradually shows as firmer and more lifted skin.
Because the energy bypasses the skin's surface and acts only deep down, the surface is not damaged. That is why there is hardly any visible recovery time.
04Suitability
Who is the treatment for?
HIFU suits best mildly or moderately sagging skin when a firming and lifting result without surgery and recovery time is wanted. The typical suitable age group is from about 30 years upwards, when the first changes in firmness begin to show.
For strong skin sagging, a surgical lift may give a better result. Suitability and a realistic end result are always assessed before treatment.
05Results
Results and duration
First results can be seen soon after the treatment, but the full effect develops over about 2–3 months as collagen renews. The result therefore requires patience but is natural.
The effect typically lasts about a year, after which a maintenance treatment extends the result. The treatment's effectiveness also depends on the skin's starting condition and lifestyle.
Safety
Safety & good to know
During the HIFU treatment you feel short heat pulses deep in the skin. Because the surface is not broken, there is hardly any visible recovery time and you can return to everyday life immediately.
The treatment is not done during pregnancy, for example, and suitability is always assessed before treatment. For strong sagging, a surgical lift may give a better result.
Combine
Combine with other treatments
HIFU firms from deep down, whereas biorevitalisation and moisturising treatments improve the skin's surface and quality. Together they support a comprehensive, natural end result.
How it works
How the treatment works
A clear, calm path from start to result.

Consultation
We assess the skin's condition and determine the areas and depths to be treated.
- 2
Treatment
The energy is delivered area by area; you feel short heat pulses during the treatment.
- 3
Straight back to daily life
After the treatment you can continue your normal day with no recovery time.
- 4
The result develops
The effect deepens over 2–3 months as collagen renews.
Mild redness or tenderness may occur for a short while after the treatment. Take care of the skin's moisturising and sun protection. A maintenance treatment once a year extends the result.
